Data Product Manager

The Opportunity

This role is the mini CEO of their own digital product with cradle to grave responsibility for solutions ensuring a direct route to value and a sustainable transformational legacy.

Our product managers are technologists, creatives, and leaders who can inspire people to marry a long term vision and strategy with short term execution. The role balances technological integrity, stakeholder needs and with a huge amount of commercial acumen.

You'll need to work with clarity of thought to lead a team that will bring innovation to some of the toughest problems in the organisation.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Undertake accountabilities on potential and live projects:
  • Generate from scratch business cases for digital projects that will be led by InDigital by assessing value of potential digital solutions
  • In consultation with business product owner, generate ideas and innovate for digital solutions that can solve specific business problems
  • Balance the want and need of the customer; decide and influence on the optimum digital solution to meet needs utilising technical expertise
  • Be responsible for testing performance and manage the trade offs of technical debt
  • Marry supply with demand, i.e. resourcing for projects throughout the digital product lifecycle
  • Manage transition and embedding of solution into BAU
  • Deliver on the cost in line with business case; hold project team to account to deliver to time, cost and quality and manage product stage gate requirements and forums
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders throughout the digital product lifecycle
  • Manage and assure own technical expertise, such that this role is a meaningful technical product owner, that can speak the language of the business and translate the business needs
  • Review existing products for value and decide whether to close/update/continue them - take inputs from the functions on value to make this assessment

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience of delivering Digital initiatives (min. 5 years)
  • Previous experience of Data Analysis and Architecture gained at a management level in
  • Experience of both front end (Java, HTML or self serve ie Tableau) and back end delivery (experience of a variety of cloud data products)
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks
  • Excellent level of ability to frame and structure business problems
  • Advanced Data analysis skills
  • Experience of delivering in an Agile setup
  • Experience of managing teams and coordinating wider stakeholder groups
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:

  • An ability to influence and build consensus amongt a range of stakeholders
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to code in relevant alnguages (python, R, SQL)
  • Advanced statistical knowledge
  • Experience of delivering products with data science components
  • Educated to degree level in a technical discipline (Preferred)
  • Experience of managing budgets, people and external agencies
  • Strong academic background
