La Fosse are partnered with a top 5 UK construction company, with over £2bn in revenue, the company is looking for a Data Architect.
The company has set ambitious targets to transform its business, leveraging information and agile delivery methods to drive efficiency across all modes of operation.To support this initiative, and recognizing the critical importance of data in the construction industry, the Group Executive Committee has approved the creation of a Global Data Platform (GDP) as the foundation of business intelligence and analytics across the business.
In general, all roles within the Data and Analytics (DnA) team will have the requirements of:
Implement the direction of the company to meet the new business activities in information delivery.
Identify pathways to transform our data and knowledge to actionable intelligence and then track the implementation of those actions through to value creation.
Define key performance indicators for the success of the DnA team and be held accountable for meeting those targets as the team matures.
Work closely with the global IT and Digital teams and collaborate with all areas of the organization to create an agile collaborative culture.
Provide transparency on risks and opportunities that arise from this initiative, and effectively communicate that to the executive teams.
Ensure and enable the sharing of information across the company to leverage the global expertise and experience around our businesses.
The successful candidate will be an action-oriented driving force for change within the organization; they will be expected to engage with a broad set of stakeholders and subject matter experts across multiple disciplines, build strong relationships across the group and help lead the organization.
The specific role of Data Architect within the data team will be to mature the global data environment across the group by applying standards and company conventions across the broad portfolio of information, with specific responsibilities of:
Working with the product development team to create data models that fulfil the business requirements while maintaining alignment to the overarching data strategy
Guiding the product development team in terms of data integration
Organising the data into a usable library based on what the business needs are for that information
Implementing best practices around data management
Developing QA/QC and governance strategies for the data
Defining and maintaining data structures, models and frameworks
Ensuring reuse and consistency of data models
Reconciling information as required and developing data mappings where necessary
Recommending ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
Researching and acquiring new data sources to verify definition and assess quality of the data
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a business environment with a deep understanding of data architecture, conceptual models, standards and tools across architecture, data flow and business process modelling
Qualified experience defining structures and frameworks for data
Demonstrated experience with large scale implementations across divisions or enterprise
Experience with database technologies (particularly SQL), ETL/ELT and modern integration techniques
Engineering / Computer Science Degree with Masters Preferred or equivalent experience
Highly skilled at multi-tasking, prioritization and implementation in complex environments
Additional Skills that will be sought after and valued:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience facilitating group sessions and driving toward consensus on data design
Experience with one or more programming languages, preferably Python
