Cloud /DevOps Architect

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the business case development and selection of the public cloud vendor of choice for and be responsible for the on-going relationship with the selected vendor
  • Create a cloud governance foundation for multiyear cloud adoption strategy and establish safe boundaries for agile delivery teams to build and run workloads in Public cloud environments. Seek out inputs from business stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess risks and risk appetite, and translate those into policy and standards for our cloud environment.
  • Drive improvement in quality of cloud architecture with a focus on cost optimisation, operational excellence, performance efficiency, reliability, and security. Guide delivery teams to assess their workloads using frameworks such as Well-Architected Review.
  • As the cloud adoption grows, co-create more mature cloud governance and operating models to fit the changing needs of the business and strategic direction, and maximise opportunities for shared platform capabilities.
  • Provide strategic direction for cloud adoption. Create a compelling and inspired vision and translate this vision into a roadmap and into action.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of new and emerging platforms and services in the cloud and how to best leverage those capabilities to deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Guide solutions architects and tech leads on the suitability and appropriate use of cloud architectures. Create a community of practice for the cloud to share knowledge and experience across the business.
  • Solicit and engage with feedback on a continuous basis. Having timely, actionable and meaningful conversations about performance for the purpose of shaping behaviours and fostering learning, with the goal of strengthening confidence and improving the effectiveness of self and others.
  • Recognize, understand and manage own emotions and recognizes, understands, shares and influences the emotions of others.
  • Works jointly with others to co-create and achieve a common goal. This includes learning, practising and experimenting with tools, techniques and frameworks that foster collaborative working environments.
