Senior Platform Engineer (AWS)

AWS/Docker/CoreOS/Ubuntu/Nginx/Ansible

I am currently recruiting for a Platform Engineer to support the 24/7 availability of my clients AWS hosted platforms. You will be working across a variety of services, including the support of the platform underpinning their websites, the automation of services and changes, working alongside the development team on platform support and day to day operations of the AWS environment. Your key responsibilities will cover Reporting, Technical, Change and 3rd Parties Services, including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring all activities are logged, monitored and escalated as appropriate;
  • Supporting the implementation, management, improvement and monitoring of appropriate service levels.
  • Providing engineering support of all AWS services, servers, networks, operating systems, virtualization technologies and applications and other components as a platform that underpin tes.com and associated web properties and services;
  • Ensure smooth operations of our AWS platform in collaboration with AWS, other internal technology teams and 3rd parties;
  • Continuously improve platform operations and services;
  • Ensure capacity and availability of web infrastructure meets operational demand;
  • Support the introduction of new services to our platform;
  • Ensure AWS security infrastructure is appropriate according to business needs and risk appetite.
  • Work in collaboration with Software Engineering teams to ensure changes to our platform are introduced with the minimum of disruption to services and balance risk against investment.
  • Engage with third-party suppliers as required (primarily AWS);
  • Provide operational services to the Software Engineering Teams;

In order to be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • 2 years managing AWS Services at scale
  • 5 years-experience in managing a wide range of technologies such as:
  • Infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Logstash ELK for logging and monitoring services
  • Networking technologies
  • Commercial experience with Docker/CoreOS/Ubuntu/Nginx/Python
