Job title: Business Systems Support Analyst
Location: Central London
Salary: up to £55,000

An independent, specialist insurance broker is looking for an ambitious Business Systems Support Analyst. Following an impressive year-on-year growth and the recent appointment of a new CIO, the company is currently investing heavily into IT - this role is one of the first hires, emphasising how integral it is to the future growth plans.

This role revolves predominantly around the Global XB platform and you'll be expected to become a champion user of this application and a subject matter expert to be able to provide support and train other users within the business. You'll be the main point of contact within the firm and the liaison between the business and the third party supplier. You'll also be required to provide 1st line support and fix minor bugs and errors - for the more challenging issues, you'll act as the point of contact to escalate tickets to the vendor and ensure that they are resolved swiftly and effectively.

A successful candidate will possess outstanding communication skills and have the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders (and point out how they could be doing things better!). This is a fun, yet challenging role, with an opportunity to make a real impact within the firm by being proactive and seeking solutions to make the platform users more efficient. You would be working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers, and be in regular communication with both the technical and the operational staff to ensure the database integrity, functionality and security.

Apart from great interpersonal skills, you need to have a solid understanding of (or better, experience working with) the Global XB platform or similar insurance broking system (e.g. TWINS, IBS, NdexInsure, Acturis etc.). You also need to have a sufficient understanding of the general concepts of the insurance industry as well as a sufficient knowledge of the UK regulatory requirements as they affect the business. Knowledge of London Insurance Broking is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities overview:

  • Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the Global XB application
  • Receive, log and investigate core systems support questions
  • Triage, liaise and raise support calls with appropriate help desks
  • Act as a point of contact with trouble shooting core systems issues and ensure they are resolved
  • Testing bug fixes
  • Monitor performance and managing parameters to provide optimum query responses to 'front end' users
  • Create and provide regular reports on core systems issue statuses
  • Assist in controlling access permissions and privileges
  • Participate in the core systems development, management and testing of backup and recovery plans
  • Ensuring that agreed storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
  • Assisting in maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
  • Configure and maintain the reference (housekeeping data) in XB
  • Participate in the planning of both 'back end' organisation of XB data and 'front end' accessibility for end users
  • Participate in writing XB documentation (data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary) and maintaining document templates
  • Update and preserve XB user manuals and documentation
  • Assist in the installation and testing of Global XB prior to user acceptance testing and thereafter assist the business in test scripts, problem logging and resolution

If the above sounds like a challenge you are ready to take on, please apply without hesitation.
