Business Analyst

Job Title:Business Analyst

Salary:£50,000-£60,000 + Benefits


Business Analyst is required to join a leading international film services company, who will be reporting directly to the Head of Delivery and Client Success. The Business Analyst will be required to work across software development and product. Helping gather business requirements for bespoke and off-the-shelf software implementation, creating user stories suitable for iterative incremental development of internal software. The role and responsibilities span the whole of the software development life cycle, from requirements elicitation and gap analysis, through to backlog refinement and deployment. The Business Analyst is expected to encourage agile behaviours and promote the concept of minimum viable product. They are expected to keep the customer journey in mind throughout the software development Lifecyle, implementation of off-the-shelf solution, whilst managing business priorities, and anticipating and resolving any possible risks, issues assumptions and dependencies to facilitate seamless and simple implementation of new products, features, or process.


Analysis & Design:

  • Requirements Elicitation for Software Procurement (Buy), MPS from time to time will source software

  • and systems from 3rd parties; to ensure we buy the right software and systems, the business analyst

  • will lead workshops, gather requirements develop user stories for configuration (if required), manage

  • the configuration and implementation of the relevant software.

  • In addition, the Business Analyst will be involved in the procurement tendering process, which includes

  • RFQ/RFP, and Selection process.

  • Requirements Elicitation for Software Development (Build), MPS has multiple software development

  • teams that are responsible for developing bespoke software for company and customer use. The

  • business analyst role will support the creation of bespoke software throughout the SDLC phases.

  • The Business Analyst will lead workshops and update documentation internally on business process,

  • informing business stakeholders of risks and changes required to drive best value services.

  • The Business Analyst will be expected to translate requirements into user stories for both functional

  • and non-functional requirements that follow the INVEST principle and have detailed acceptance

  • criteria (BDD format). The user stories should support iterative incremental development of both

  • internal and off-the-shelf software, and should be easily consumable by the end user (usually the

  • Software Development team). This may include investigating database structures, running SQL queries

  • and invoking API endpoints when required.

Analysis & Development:

  • Backlog Refinement, working ahead of sprints with the relevant Operations and Commercial teams, as well

as the wider Product team to continually help refine the product backlog - experience of participating in 3

amigos sessions.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Managing stakeholders throughout the development process, keeping them up to date with ongoing

  • progress, and support them with any training required for testing and on boarding purposes.

  • A.I.D, Identifying any Risks, Issues, Assumptions and Dependencies for potential product/project

  • development throughout the SDLC and maintain RAID logs as required.

  • Working within the PMO team and mentoring junior/mid-level business analysts within the team.

  • Bringing in best practices and expertise.

Process & Procedures:

  • Creating/maintaining and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other Product and

Software related documentation

  • Supporting the wider company in the maintenance of SOP documentation as required. Ensure that the

company's Confluence and SharePoint pages related to Software Products are comprehensive and up

to date.


  • Working with stakeholders on user acceptance testing (UAT) planning and execution, to ensure what is

delivered is fit for purpose. Working with Software Developers and QA testers on story details and test plans

to ensure quality.

Essential Skills/Experiences:

  • Able to run engaging and productive workshops and product demonstrations

  • Experience creating wireframes/mock-ups

  • Knowledge of UML diagrams and other workflow/process mapping formats such as BPMN

  • Knowledge of key BA and PM toolsets (e.g., BRD, MoSCoW, RACI, INVEST user stories, Acceptance

  • criteria (BDD), RAID logs, Communication plans, Highlight/Checkpoint reports, UAT, Training etc.)

  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, C++, and PHP or similar

  • MS Office skills

  • Exposure of micro services-based architecture including docker/AWS/Kubernetes
