The Business Intelligence and Data department collect, collate, manage and present business information for business users and customers. Our professional specialisms include Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Governance and Data Science.
Ensure business and customer requirements for reporting, analysis and data are gathered, documented and implemented efficiently and cost-effectively
Maintain accurate records of changes to the Data/BI landscape to deliver confidence in the accuracy, reliability and transparency of reporting
As an expert in LP UK data and reporting capabilities, answer requests for support from the business and investigate and resolve queries with the support of the development teams
Key Responsibilities
Business Engagement as Reporting & Data Expert
Maintain expert knowledge of business processes and how they are supported by data and reporting to offer expert and analysis.
Be the first point of contact for business users with data or reporting queries
Take full responsibility for data requirements, conducting investigative work, documenting requirements, constraints and recommended approach to meet stakeholder needs
Provide support, guidance and examples for end-users across the business to create their own reports
Data Lineage & Analysis
Conduct exploratory and investigative analysis on new and existing data sources, analyse and interpret key performance measures and trends in multidimensional datasets
Create and maintain lineage documentation (ideally in Collibra) for existing and new data feeds and stores
Ensure that processes, data and changes are documented to a standard to pass audit requirements
Report/Dashboard/Data Model Design
Engage with colleagues within the company to elicit data requests, issues and requirements
Undertake new data mappings as needed
Advocate innovation using latest tools & techniques
Express and document functional and non-functional reporting requirements in an actionable form for technical developers
Obtain user sign off on requirements and testing approaches
Coordination of Report/Dashboard/Data Model Build
Break designs into JIRA user stories for project work as it moves to detailed analysis and development
Maintain records of work in progress, timelines, risks and issues ensuring that business stakeholders are informed and engaged at all times
Coordinate user testing and approval
Update operating procedures to reflect changes
Problem Solving
Own questions and issues arising from existing data feeds - leading the investigation, coordinating business and technical engagement, proposing solutions and managing them to resolution
Qualifications & Competencies
Desireable Education & Technical Ability
Graduate level certification in a numerate discipline
Natural structured analytical approach with very strong data literacy
Passion for use of data to drive business decisions
Excellent inter-personal & communication skills with ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues
Exception clarity in written communications
Confident self-starter with focus on problem solving
Ability to work under pressure and prioritise key issues in a highly dynamic environment
Collaborative, solution focused approach
Desirered Experience
Excellent technical data skills including significant experience with SQL data manipulation, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI
Experience with Microsoft Visio, JIRA, Collibra, Denodo an advantage
Track record of enabling successful delivery of data and reporting solutions to business users
Experience working with offshore delivery teams
Practical experience of delivering in Agile (Scrum) environments.
Financial Services and / or Vehicle industry experience is a strong advantage
