AWS DevOps Engineer - 6 Month Contract - Fully Remote
A key client of ours within the food industry is seeking multiple AWS DevOps engineers to join on an initial 6 month basis with a view to extend.
The role:
Maintaining the kubernetes platform and associated tooling focusing on reliability.
Platform Upgrades - develop, test and release (e.g maintain EKS upgrade cadence)
Operations Management - e.g. Incident / Request / Access Management
Security patching
Managing the deployment pipelines and repositories to deploy into multiple remote sites and public cloud environments.
Data driven approach to tackling TOIL
Conducting Post Mortem meetings to ensure we identify root causes and capture remedial actions.
Deploying new clusters in line with the commissioning timelines.
Assisting application teams with migration from EKS to ECS.
Automation | Runbooks | Documenting "tribal" Knowledge | Tooling
The requirements:
Demonstrable hands-on experience of operating (and troubleshooting) kubernetes clusters in production environments particularly the AWS EKS service.
Demonstrable hands-on experience working with Docker containers
Demonstrable programming skills with scripting languages (eg. Bash, Python)
Demonstrable experience with AWS Cloud Formation or equivalent tooling.
Demonstrable hands-on experience operating (and troubleshooting) Linux clusters, core utils, Linux kernel, storage, networking, etc
Must be at ease troubleshooting in complex environments using monitoring and logging tools
Highly desirable:
TDD, design patterns and SOLID principles
Hands-on experience of build pipelines and software lifecycles
Used and have knowledge of common build tools, repositories and CD/CI tooling.
Experience using monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. NewRelic, Prometheus, Grafana)
Proven commercial development experience
Knowledge of SCRUM or other Agile methodologies
