AWS DevOps Engineer - FULLY REMOTE - £65,000 to £80,000

An exciting opportunity for an AWS DevOps engineer to join a boutique strategic analytics consultancy based in London. You would be the foundation of the Cloud division within the company, with the aim of building a team around you as the company grows. This is an exciting time for the company, who have private equity backing and huge growth plans.

As a Cloud Engineer in this role, you will be essential in helping the company to scale up their work in developing analytics platforms for several of their major clients. You will work as an integrated member of multidisciplinary squads of strategists, data analytics consultants, data scientists, and software engineers. The teams within the company are small and close-knit, offering ample opportunity to bring in your own expertise and introduce your preferred best practice.

Technical Skills

  • Linux / Bash
  • Extensive AWS cloud infrastructure services (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, SNS, SQS)
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking and relevant security controls (configuration and testing)
  • Ability to create required cloud infrastructure using code (Cloud Formation, Terraform) and through use of relevant CLI's
  • Code management, deployment and monitoring (Git, Bitbucked, CI, CD, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Working knowledge of Python and its use in web application development
  • Understanding of Django/Flask web frameworks
  • Understanding of Cloud database management systems (Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, Google Big Query)
  • Exposure to Data Engineering technologies and relevant Cloud ML services
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries

Beneficial Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and GCP
  • Website and application monitoring (e.g. CloudWatch)
  • Understanding of modern software architectures
  • Good written communication skills, with the ability to capture and document technical requirements and produce supporting solution diagrams
