⏳ Duration: 6-month initial contract
Rate: £550–£600 / day (Inside IR35)
We’re supporting a well-established UK financial services organisation on a major card platform transformation and are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong integration expertise to join the programme.
This is a significant, multi-year initiative replacing an existing third-party card platform with a new cloud-based solution. The programme will modernise debit and credit card capabilities and re-integrate core payment services across a complex internal systems landscape.
It’s a high-impact transformation, involving large-scale system replacement and deep integration across multiple banking platforms.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead requirements definition for card platform integrations across multiple internal systems
- Produce detailed functional and technical specifications, including API documentation (REST/SOAP)
- Define and document As-Is / To-Be processes and conduct gap analysis
- Work closely with architects and engineers to translate business requirements into build-ready artefacts
- Support data mapping, message flows and system interaction design
- Identify integration risks, dependencies and downstream impacts across the payments landscape
- Support migration activity from legacy card systems to the new cloud-based platform
- Contribute to UAT planning, acceptance criteria definition and business readiness activity
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and regulatory requirements
Systems & Domain Exposure
- Card issuing and processing platforms
- API-led integrations and microservices architecture
- Payment schemes (e.g. Faster Payments, SEPA, CHAPS)
- ISO 8583 / ISO 20022 messaging (desirable)
- Complex, multi-system banking environments
Successful Candidates Will Have:
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within banking or financial services
- Strong integration and API experience – this is essential
- Strong cards domain experience (issuing, processing, or card platform integrations)
- Experience working on platform replacement or large-scale transformation programmes
- Ability to write detailed, technically robust requirements for engineering teams
- Strong stakeholder management across business and technology
- Comfortable operating in Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with strong attention to detail
