This is a great opportunity for someone to support with the setting up of a growing tech team for one of the most loved brands in the UK.
This role has been created to keep the knowledge in house and to eventually move away from 3rd party development teams and you will be at the heart of it. You will be directly involved in building the team out around you, getting involved in strategy and supporting with the vision and direction for the software engineering team.
You will have 3 main responsibilities which break down in the following way;
Responsibilities
Lead software engineering teams and other stakeholders to set goals for improving code quality, maintainability, security, and scalability.
Apply best practices and modern software development methods and tools.
Work with the Global Information Security Officer to ensure software is effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.
Implement and manage software development status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks.
Leadership and Strategy
Lead the software engineering organisation to successful delivery of business outcomes.
Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the software engineering team.
Work with product management leadership to design, manage, and/or execute product roadmaps.
Support and facilitate innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames.
Talent Management
Build a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness.
Manage software engineering talent, playing a key role in performance management and compensation processes, role and competency definition, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Manage employee engagement and promote a compelling employee value proposition to retain software engineering staff.
Skills and Technology
You are not expected to have experience working across all the below technologies however the more experience you have the better.
Tech Stack:
