Lending Works approached La Fosse via their Private Equity backers NVM Private Equity and Pollen Street Capital, to instruct us on a Search for their next Chairman.
As one of the leading Peer-to-Peer Lenders in the UK, Lending Works are an extremely high-growth FinTech business, and this was a key strategic hire in the context of a very successful previous 18 months, and plans for a steep trajectory in terms of revenue and headcount over the next 3-5 years.
The leadership team together with the Private Equity stakeholders, decided that the profile of Chairman they required needed to have a background as a CEO/MD of high-growth FS businesses, extensive Private Equity-backed experience and a demonstrable track-record as a Chair within businesses, ideally having scaled them quickly and successfully.
After producing an initial Project Plan outlining the initial process timelines, La Fosse began researching, mapping and approaching suitable candidates from across the UK to begin producing an initial longlist. We provided a weekly Project Plan to the client throughout these initial stages, which both kept the client abreast of which profiles we had identified, and how we were grading the suitability of these candidates in accordance with their Search criteria.
La Fosse successfully completed the Search and placed Simon Waugh as Chairman at Lending Works. Simon is a very experienced Non-Executive Director and Chairman, having Chaired boards at CMC Markets, AWD and Age UK, with a lengthy career including C-Suite roles at Centrica, British Gas and Saga.
