futureproof, our award-winning technology training company, has recently appointed two new leadership hires as part of its continued mission to develop the tech superstars of the future.
Sophie Hebdidge has been with futureproof since its inception in 2019, originally joining as Interim CTO and then Interim Academy Director, where she trebled the size of our training facility throughout the pandemic. Today, we are delighted to announce that she joins the business on a full-time basis as our permanent Academy Director.
Sophie is a serial founder and CTO. Having spent the majority of her career working within the tech start-up world, she was recently recognised as one of WeAreTechWomen’s TechWomen100 for her continued efforts towards promoting and supporting female tech careers.
Speaking on her time at futureproof, Sophie says:
"Since being at futureproof I’ve seen us go from having no curriculum to graduating our first cohort. From us giving a placement to our first associate, to now a time where they have been working in their dream tech role for 2 years. And even from a team of two working from a coworking space to a business whose classrooms are bursting at the seams. Here at futureproof we do things the right way; operating with care, thinking about long-term growth, and focussing on initiatives that enable our individuals’ careers to skyrocket. futureproof is on a path to rewrite the rule book when it comes to the early careers tech market; I can’t wait to continue to be part of it."
We are also pleased to welcome our newest member to the team – Ed Halliday. Ed joined in November as Operations Director and will be helping to scale our programmes to meet increasing customer demand across the tech sector, where futureproof is working to close the UK skills gap in software engineering.
Ed was formerly Chief Operating Officer at tech education start-up Fire Tech, where he helped transform the company into the UK’s leading provider of online tech courses for kids.
Speaking on his new role, Ed comments:
“I’m delighted to join the brilliant team at futureproof to help scale their crucial work in developing the next generation of tech innovators. The skills landscape is moving at unprecedented speed and, through their cutting-edge curriculum and deep commitment to diversity, futureproof is perfectly placed to develop and grow the UK’s most talented and inclusive community of tech superstars.”
David Roberts, Managing Director at futureproof, discusses how these new hires are key to the ongoing growth and expansion of the business:
“In Sophie and Ed we have secured two critical hires who each bring a breadth of experience and track record in the education and tech sectors. Most importantly, they will take over rapidly expanding teams and help cement our culture as we grow. futureproof exists to make careers in tech accessible for all and to solve a major problem in the UK - demand for diverse talent, especially in software engineering, massively outstrips the skillsets being created through traditional educational institutions. With Ed and Sophie on board we are geared for growth on this next leg of our journey.”
futureproof is a technology training company, dedicated to launching and developing the tech superstars of the future. We want to create a world where the best talent, regardless of background, will build the tech of tomorrow.
We select the top 2% of talent, training them in full-stack software development and technology fundamentals to prepare them for a two-year placement in tech.
We mentor and coach our futureproof associates throughout their placement to ensure they can continue to add value to our clients’ businesses.
We’re passionate about improving diversity and addressing the skills gap in the tech industry. That’s why our training is completely free for students, in order to attract people with ability, rather than ability to pay. The best talent is diverse.
