La Fosse Associates and futureproof are delighted to announce the appointment of Beth Schofield to our teaching staff, as the “Mary Jackson” cohort – our next group of talented consultants – begin their training.
Beth joins as a Senior Learning Engineer, working hands-on with students on their journey to become fully qualified junior coders.
Beth has an extensive technical background, having worked with companies including TEDAV, the Berklee College of Music (after completing a master’s degreein Music Technology Innovation), and most recently the Flatiron School, after being awarded a ‘Women Take Tech’ scholarship to hone her skills before moving to teaching.
Speaking on her new position, Beth comments:
"I am incredibly excited to be joining futureproof and working with students to guide them along a path that I took myself: of changing my career and my life. The futureproof mission to "democratise access to careers in technology" holds a lot of meaning for me. The days of certain professions being accessible only to people of certain backgrounds and status need to become an artefact of the past, and I believe that futureproof and La Fosse are taking a big step towards making that a reality. We are already thinking about new ways to develop the course, increase accessibility to materials, and keep improving, and I am ecstatic to be able to contribute towards this mission and help more people fall in love with coding!"
Founder, Simon La Fosse, welcomes the continued development and success of the futureproof school, and comments:
“We have a growing track record of success delivering talented coders for our futureproof clients, and growing our teaching staff is a key step in expanding our capacity and capability. We select the very best talent for this program, and the quality of their learning is largely down to the calibre of our teachers. We are really excited to have Beth join the team, not just because of her experience and technical skill, but because of her passion for learning, teaching, and bringing through diverse talent.”
futureproof is an IT services business which assesses, trains and deploys software engineering talent.
Addressing the current skills gap and helping improve diversity within the technology industry are two of the main reasons we established futureproof as a cost-effective and trusted resource for clients looking to augment their development capability now, while also building a sustainable pipeline of new talent for the long term.
A cornerstone of the service is a 13-week course, designed in partnership with industry experts. This is offered free of charge as one of our measures to encourage diversity and equal opportunities for all applicants.
After graduating as fully qualified coders, our new consultants are placed into two-year contracts with top-tier clients, who have the option to hire the consultant after this period.
