La Fosse Associates were joined by Paul Randle, Director of Digital & Media for Visa Europe, who facilitated an open and engaging discussion exclusively for HR Directors. Participants shared insights and challenges around keeping pace and innovating within the ever-changing digital landscape.
Paul explained how a digital maturity matrix can help organisations to analyse and evolve in order to bring about a cultural change where every employee embraces the ethos of a digital specialist.
1. The digital future is unknown.
No one can predict how the digital landscape will change. Organisations fail to keep pace and two-thirds of digital transformation projects fail. HR departments “understand the culture and broader capabilities of the business” to steer it toward a successful digital transformation.
2. The skill set to survive is constantly changing.
Digital success is about enabling people. "We have to stop looking at the technology and focus on the inherent capabilities of the organisation". As technologies evolve, the skills to maximise the benefits of such tech also evolve. Organisations must find individuals with those skills to stay relevant and succeed.
3. Take a cultural lead.
Every level of the organisation needs to understand and champion digital change until it becomes engrained in their culture. A digital maturity matrix can help businesses analyse and evolve. "This may not be the right way for you but having states of maturity and analysis can be really, really powerful as it helps to surface issues at the stakeholder level."
