University can be great - but it’s a personal choice. Having a degree doesn’t necessarily mean that you will earn more; skipping the classroom and gaining real world experience might just be the right path for you.
1. Gain independence early
By going straight into the working world, you can become financially and socially independent before your peers.
2. It’s never too early to start earning
Reach your personal goals sooner rather than later. Skip repaying student loans and start saving now, plus it will bring you closer to financial success in the near future.
3. Expand your professional skills
You will undoubtedly learn skills at your job that you just can’t get in a classroom.
4. Start building your career early
If you already know what industry you want to work in, that’s really exciting! Why wait around when you can get straight to it?
5. More autonomy
Don’t be pressured by peers and teachers who say you have to go to uni. Ultimately, it’s your decision. Take control of your destiny by making the career choice that’s most suitable for your needs and goals.
6. Self motivation
Ambition certainly goes a long way. Make the most of your future by tackling your personal goals as soon as you can. Motivation is inspiring!
7. The educational system is not perfect
Like any institution, there are imperfections and complications. Research is a very critical step during your decision making process; being spoon fed is not for everyone!
8. Make your decisions on your own time
Uni can make you feel “locked in” with little freedom. Working straight away offers more flexibility in your life.
9. You don’t have to have a degree to earn money
A recent study published in the FT found that non-graduates are earning more than graduates from more than one in ten universities across the UK. With tuition fees on the rise, avoid going into debt and start earning earlier.
10. Prove the haters wrong
You will probably have people doubting your choices. Whatever their reasons, it will feel good to succeed early in the game and prove everyone wrong.
Uni doesn’t exactly offer the types of hands on, real world experiences that working can. Trust your instincts, take risks, and push yourself to new levels of success!
