La Fosse Sponsored Charity- Mangochi Orphans Education and Training (MOET)

We have a policy of donating 1% of our profits to charity and have a special relationship with a school in Malawi which educates, feeds and supports 240 children (in one of the poorest regions in Africa), who otherwise would have limited access to an over-run under resourced state education system. The school, founded in 1999, has grown from scratch to a fully functioning operation with a growing compliment of children aged between 4 and 15 years of age. The subsistence budget for the school is £1,000 per month, which means that it costs less that £50 to educate and feed one child for a full year, which makes a significant positive impact on their lives, heath and future wellbeing.

  • David Head, Associate Director at LFA and his wife Angela are trustees of the charity which funds the school and visited recently with their young children. David was able to verify that every single pound is spent wisely on the creation of an impressive operation, with full educational curriculum and a caring and well qualified staff, led by the founder of  MOET and Headmaster, Patterson Majonanga. The school has several classrooms, a well stocked garden for growing crops, a range of sports activities and is developing a vocational skills centre to provide the children with the practical skills which will enable them to become gainfully employed after finishing their education.
  • MOET is funded by the generous contributions of several individuals in the UK and Europe and through their fundraising activities, sponsored walks etc. La Fosse Associates make a quarterly contribution and several of our clients have made individual payments to the cause. We aim to increase our contribution to MOET as our business and profitability grow and David will be organizing a sponsored walk and other events over time. The following photographs and video link will give you a better feel for the school and some of its activities
